20-hour Video Observation Course overview
On this course, you will get the chance to see inside the classroom by observing a range of different English lessons taught by EFL/ESL teaching professionals. These pre-recorded EFL lessons will give you the chance to see how the lesson planning and classroom management skills you have already learnt in the previous modules are put into practice.20-hour Video Observation modules:
1. A comparison of two classes
In this unit, you will have the chance to see what mistakes first-time teachers can make. You have the chance to compare a well-delivered lesson versus a not so great one so you don’t make the same slip-ups when you start teaching EFL/ESL.
2. Functional language lesson
The focus of this unit will be to show you how to get your students to get their point across in class. Again, you will be observing what is best practice for teachers from introducing the target language to students, to getting students to feel confident using it by the end of the lesson.
3. A foreign language lesson
Don’t worry, you don’t need to learn a foreign language to do this part of the course. The reason we include this unit is to show you what visual cues and methods you can use in your class to teach English to students with even zero knowledge of English.
4. Skills based lessons
In this unit, you will be observing a reading lesson - from the lead-in activity through to the final production stages – looking at things like how the teacher makes sure students have understood what they are about to do, moves from one stage of a lesson to the next, and how what activities/techniques are used to consolidate what students have learnt.
5. Dealing with difficult students
Some tactics and strategies you can use to curb disruptive behavior in the classroom.
