Job Details

Otra Cosa Network (OCN) is a small NGO located in Huanchaco, Trujillo - which is in northern Peru. They work in disadvantaged neighbourhoods with developing communities that are mainly populated by displaced peoples from the Peruvian highland and rainforest regions.

They are looking for an English teacher to coordinate, plan and deliver lessons for their HELP English project. This position is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who want to work with children while also gaining an insight into the world of NGOs. 

As an English teaching volunteer you would be responsible for the following:

- Planning, maintaining and updating materials related to the HELP English program, which will include lesson plans, learning resources etc.

- Delivering English lessons every Monday and Wednesday at our REC (Recreational and Educational Centre) to children aged 6-17

- Registering the children’s attendance

- Briefing, leading and delegating responsibilities to supporting volunteers

- Participating in weekly meetings with the other HELP Project Coordinators and REC Coordinator/Program Manager.

- Being creative in coming up with new ideas and policies to improve our English program.

- An average of 25 hours per week

Requirements

- Minimum intermediate Spanish preferred* 

- Experience of teaching or working with children desirable
